The
Story of Mr.M.K.Mathivathanan, Chairman and Managing Director
of Kasi Group of Companies is one of Stamina, hard work and
vision. With his beginnings as a small contractor undertaking
civil engineering jobs for the Tamil Nadu Housing Board, he
has grown into one of the leading builders in Chennai and
now has a national and international presence.

| Armed
with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a capital of just Rs.5,000/-
then 20 years – old grew to be a Class I contractor for
the TNHB in just 12 years. This achievement has taken others
a much greater time. He was then able to undertake work worth
over Rs.1 Crore and holds the record for having successfully
executed the biggest contract in TNHB history. |

| With
his experience in undertaking large projects and successfully
completing them, Mr.Mathivathanan decided to start work on his
own projects. He started with an apartment block in Kodambakkam
in 1983. A turning point for Kasi came when they were entrusted
with the construction of around 150 residential flats for officers
of the Kalpakkam atomic energy project in K.K.Nagar West. With
this behind him he build around 200 – 300 Flats every year
and he has now successfully executed projects of nearly one
million Sq.ft. |

| Without
restricting themselves to real estate and constructions, the
Kasi Group has diversified into several other areas. |

| The
hospitality industry has seen two well planned hotel / motel
/ resort projects at Tiruttani. It is a must that every visitor
to the temple city of Tirupathi from Chennai halts at these
hotels to refresh themselves. |

| For
several years, from the early 1970s the Kasi Group has had a
presence in building and renting out industrial sheds. “We
look at it more as a service to the nation, rather than a business
proposition”, says Mr.M.K.Mathivathanan, His 200 odd sheds
which are equipped with power and water have been rented out
to industrialists who are today among the top in the country. |

| Agricultural
farm land of over 200 acres with over 20 bore wells and abundant
water has been acquired by the Kasi Group and is soon to the
developed into a resort / theme part. |

planning and entertainment, in terms of a well furnished air
conditioned theatre and an in-house advertising agency, form
another wing of the Kasi Group. |
